Leather Care

Help it
last forever.

Good leather does not need much — just a little attention every now and then. Here is everything you need to know to keep your bag looking beautiful for decades.

01

Condition once a year

For optimal care, treat your bag with a good leather conditioner once a year. This hydrates the leather, keeps it supple, and adds a layer of protection against moisture and everyday wear. A little goes a long way — apply with a soft cloth in gentle circular motions and let it absorb fully before use.

Beeswax-based conditioners work beautifully on vegetable-tanned leather
02

Small scratches are normal — and fixable

Daily wear will leave small surface scratches on your bag. This is completely natural and part of owning a leather piece. Most light marks can be buffed out with a lightly damp cloth using small circular motions. Follow up with a touch of leather conditioner to restore the surface and add a gentle sheen.

With time, these marks become part of your bag's unique patina
03

Spot cleaning for marks and stains

For spots or general marks, mix equal parts saddle soap or Castile soap with warm water. Apply with a soft cloth, work gently over the affected area, then wipe clean with a dry cloth. Allow to dry naturally away from direct heat. Finish with a small amount of conditioner to replenish any moisture drawn out during cleaning.

Always test on a small hidden area first
04

Ink and stubborn stains

For more stubborn marks like ink, dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and apply carefully to the affected area only — work slowly and avoid spreading the stain. Once the mark has lifted, apply a small amount of leather conditioner to the treated area to restore the surface and provide protection.

Act quickly — the sooner you treat a stain, the better the result

A well-cared-for leather bag does not age — it evolves. Every crease, every mark of patina is a record of the life you have lived carrying it.

What to Avoid

A few things leather
does not love.

Leather is resilient, but a little awareness goes a long way toward keeping it in beautiful condition.

Direct sunlight for extended periods — fades colour and dries out the leather
Drying with direct heat (hair dryers, radiators) — causes cracking and warping
Soaking in water — if your bag gets wet, blot dry gently and allow to air dry naturally
Harsh chemical cleaners or baby wipes — these strip the natural oils from the leather
Storing in plastic — leather needs to breathe; use a cloth dust bag if storing long-term
Overfilling — leather will stretch and lose its shape if consistently overpacked
On Patina

The marks that come with years of daily carry are not damage. They are evidence. A leather bag that has been truly used tells a story that a new one never can — and that story is entirely yours.
