Learning is the work.
The craft is the joy.
I am a self-taught designer and leather worker, and my design philosophy has always been simple: create functional beauty. Everything I make starts from that place — what does this person need to carry, and how do we make carrying it feel like a small daily pleasure?
I spent fourteen years learning this craft and I am still learning. That is not a caveat — it is the whole point. Mastery is not a destination. It is a commitment to continual refinement, curiosity, and honesty about what could be better.
I work slowly and alone. Every bag is designed and made by me — from the first idea in my head to the final stitch. There is no team, no factory. Just two hands and a lot of thought given to the questions that matter: Does this close the right way? Will this hold what you actually carry? Will it be better in five years than it is today?
I came to Tofino for the same reasons I came to leather — the slowness of it, the honesty of materials, the way things improve when you give them enough time and attention. The ocean keeps reminding me that patience is not passive. It is the engine of everything good.
I want you to feel joy when picking up your leather bag — that sense of knowing yourself, trusting your values, and slowing down.

Mastery of Craft
Mastery is not a finish line — it is a way of working. Fourteen years in, I am still learning, still fine-tuning, still asking whether this cut or that stitch can be better. The bags get better because I do.
Slowness & Process
A good design needs time to percolate. I do not rush a concept into production. I let it sit, turn it over, sleep on it. When a piece finally arrives on the bench, it has already been through a long conversation with itself.
Humanness
Every piece is made by a single pair of hands — mine. You can feel that in how it holds together, in the decisions no machine would make because it could not have known to care.
Functional Design
Design elements have a function or they do not belong. No embellishment for its own sake. No excess. The result looks refined because it is — nothing wasted, nothing missing.

Tofino is not a place that hurries. The tide comes in when it wants to. The forest does not apologize for being dense and slow. Working here is a constant reminder that the most durable things — the ones worth having — cannot be rushed into existence. My studio reflects the coast I live on: quiet, purposeful, unhurried.
